Yeah, Yeah, I know!  I didn’t keep you guys updated like I promised – I came home to emails saying “duuuuude wheres some pictures?!  You said you were going to post everyday!”

I’m sorry!  I didn’t sleep a single minute from 8am Friday to 5am Sunday – It is seriously my new record of no sleep!

Either way, here I am.  Going to tell you guys how my weekend went.  I didn’t really go to any panels..  I spent the whole time in ONE spot.  Pretty boring, huh?   Well, I found out, at the time, I was able to setup lights on the bottom floor of the Marriott.  I was like, COOL.. awesome shots where I can control light.  I got a bunch of people to come down and get pictures with me in a little cove in the back corner.  It was allright – I was missing out on a lot of cosplayers who weren’t coming down to the bottom floor – and there was a ton that I missed!

But, I was able to get some help from a  few friends and walk around and guide people to where I was setup.  Most of them were cool about it and came along.  Some people (mostly the real hot girls) didn’t want to – which is understandable because, well, taking pictures with nerds all day is pretty exhausting, I’m sure.

Friday night was pretty smooth.  Got some great looking cosplay shots and was on my feet alllll day and night – surviving off of cliff bars and water, YUM.  I met Bryan Humphrey who was a really cool guy and his work is outstanding.  I knew him from the photos he has done of Rikki LaCotey with her costume design.  He setup his softboxes next to me all Friday and Saturday evening.  Was great to work with him – he gave me some tips and was not a dickhole like most photographers that I run into.

Saturday, on the other hand, didn’t go as I hoped.  I got setup around 7AM Saturday morning at the same spot.  I had a lot of cooperation from a lot of the costumers since it was MEGA crowded – Trying to keep a clear backdrop during Saturday was really difficult.  I was able to pull it off and get some people to come by.  I think it was worth all the work – I got some great shots and can’t wait to show you guys.

Then came Saturday evening where Bryan and I were visited by the Fire Marshal.  All-of-a-sudden, we can’t have any “stationary” light stands.  As in, it cannot stand on its own.. It was a fire hazard because our little “cove” could be blocking emergency evacuation of the hotel.  I call bullshit, but I cooperated.  I was upset because I had a lot of people to visit me for some shots and now I couldn’t get them what I promised.

At about 8:30PM, my 2 friends met up with me and they were cool with holding the light stands for me.  I used the same setup, except the stands legs weren’t extended – essentially, a Monopod.  We were back up and running and getting great shots again.  Bryan was able to get back up quicker because he had assistants with him the whole time.  Basically, we were shutdown because of other dumb-ass photographers setting up lights in stupid-ass places – like on a balcony, or in the middle of people walking and even setting up human-size lights with a backdrop!  Who this guy was, I did not know, but I wanted to pop him in the nose so bad.

The worst thing about it was, he was still up and running after we were shutdown.  The DragonCon staff shut down the wrong guys!  The hazard was the dickhole on the other side of us with all his shit up blocking people.  Bryan and I were pissed.  Apparently, the guy with all that stuff up was a complete ass to the main manager of DragonCon staff.  Long story short, he was kicked out of the hotel and was not allowed to take any more pictures.

All and all, I had a great time with all the costumes and was really happy to get some great shots for them.  I passed out over 100 business cards and told them all to email me for their photos.  I have already received almost a dozen emails asking for them.  I’m working on them!

I did find a great spot that is only 5 bucks parking and REALLY close to the Hyatt.  It is kinda hidden if you don’t keep an eye for it.  5 bucks?  Hell yes!  That’s cheaper than taking MARTA!

The prices jumped immediately as you crossed the street to 15 bucks for parking.

This is the “Brown Line” for the NOT Pre-Reg people – No line, folks.

And, THIS was some of the LONG ASS line for those who pre-reg’d.  I say no thanks, I’ll pay extra.  I talked to a guy mid-line about 5 blocks from the Hyatt and he said he has been in line for 7 hours.

Hey, even the Ghost Busters need to register.

People were hanging out at the hotels and just having a good time - and it's not even started yet!

Awesome guy to hang with and would go pretty much anywhere for some good photos.  Can’t wait to get more shots of him!  Thank you Dim Horizon Studios for letting BGZ Studios attend the photoshoot!  It is great working with talented people and am eager to get back out there with them.

A little late on my findings here, but there needs to be a medal awarded to this Soldier for the amazing cosplay he is doing in these shots.  This was originally from October 2009 when Ryan and Greg decided to make some really realistic looking costumes for Halloween.

Looking at the picture above, my first thoughts were “holy shit, Valve is making improvements to the source engine?!?!”  Looks absolutely astounding.

Ryan, the one wearing the medic outfit, explains some issues he had with wearing it – Although, I still thinks he got as close as anyone could possibly get to the real medic.

The medic costume I have to admit is the biggest bitch to wear. The biggest problem being the backpack. Its heavy and the fact that the belt doesn’t loop into anything makes it ride up, constantly. I also had a little medical incident recently which means I periodically have excruciating abdominal pain, which I was enjoying for about half the photos we took (whats above is only a small portion of the photos we took.). So blahh. I also had to make a few design concessions because life of course gets in our way as it does and time became an issue but i still think I did pretty good and greg got his spot on.

They both did great – I want to see some Heavy cosplay goddamnit!

She was gorgeous and her cosplay was pretty good.  The boots kind-of threw it off a bit – they didn’t look too good.  The weapon was crafted by her and was very badass.

Well, her name is Megan and she is pretty popular at the conventions around Atlanta.  I have seen her at almost every anime con around here and she is definitely hard not to stare at – even without the cosplay outfit (see what i did thar?)

She seems like a shy girl and has a very tiny, soft voice that seems to attract all the loud ones around her for compensation.  She is sweet and is very abundant with the thank you’s and hello’s to strangers.  Best part is, she looks like she is at least 18, right?

(As Megan reads this, she is most likely calling me a creeper)

She seems to go everywhere with a 7 year old little girl – people mistakenly think that it is her daughter.  I asked her in a very non-weird way and corrected me saying it is her sister.  I didn’t get any pictures of the sister, as she was not with her during this shoot.  But the little one is a cutie, too :)

For once, a cosplayer was not shy to do poses for the camera!  Her name is Lauren and she is lookin’ good in this photo shoot.  Got her over by some rocks and ya know.. did our thang. Uhhh huhhhh!

Not so much cosplay as it is just great pictures of a great looking gal with ripped stockings and black hair with a black dress-thing on – now THAT is a run-on sentence of epicness.  I can’t help it – This is why I love going to conventions.  Even the slightest chance I can grab great photos like this, I am there.
